Almost two and a half centuries ago America declared its independence and began a journey as its own nation. We celebrate that day once again 245 years later this July 4th, 2021.
Getting out on the water or spending time at a campsite by the fire is a perfect way to spend any amount of time. Activities like these are really great ways to celebrate this holiday of independence because a lot of people enjoying these activities will be doing so on public lands and waters. One big thing that differentiates America from the rest of the world is the abundance and accessibility of public lands whether they be managed on the Federal or State level or even a County or City level. The country is covered in public areas that we all get to enjoy. Go to the National Park Service or your State’s Department of Natural Resources website and find a new natural area to take a hike in or just sit and enjoy the scenery. Also search online for a nearby public boat launch and take a cruise around a new lake and watch the fireworks on the water. For centuries Public Land has been something that many Americans have fought for and protected and it’s something that’s available to all of us and enjoying them on the boat or taking a trip with the RV is fantastic way to get out and experience them.
With the excitement building around group gatherings, including parades, cook-outs at the park, RVing in a national or state park and boating on one of the over 100,000 lakes in the US, we asked some ITC staff what they were going to be doing this holiday weekend and if they were including any ITC products in their plans.
“Living on the West coast of the Big Lake (Lake Michigan), we spend as much time as we can on our boat. We often take a couple of days and explore a new beach town and anchor-off in Grand Haven to watch fireworks.” Said one of our salespeople. “I actually got one of the ITC lit tables for my Bennington pontoon and we have been looking forward to lighting it up for a fireworks party.” One of our customer care team members has been wanting to upgrade his 2004 Jayco trailer so, he is planning to retro fit it with all new lighting from ITC over the weekend. His wife picked out the Dinette Lamp with Oval Drum Shade and the Willow Pin-up lights. He said, “I will be doing the install while my wife is roasting the hotdogs over the campfire”. We think that sounds like a good partnership and with the easy installation of the lamp, he will be eating hot dogs in no time. And finally, we talked to a staff member who has a cottage on an inland lake. “We are hosting their family on the deck for sunset cocktails every night of the long weekend”. When asked if they had any ITC products on the deck, they explained they had installed two of the Sequoia table legs last year to hold the bar top for the cocktail parties – now that’s a new way to use the RV/Boat table leg!
Whatever you decide to do to celebrate the 4th and the lessening of restrictions we hope it is safe and packed with memory making moments.
